About Me

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
― Lao Tzu

Thanks to my father – who used to be a passionate travel photographer – I had the opportunity to get in touch with photography already at an early age. But it took me a long time until my personal enthusiasm and passion for „creating“ photos came up. Witnessing and experiencing different cultures and places by land and sea, made me want to capture these impressions forever – unchanged in my own memory board.

From the technical side of photography I gained most of my knowledge from my experiences with underwater photography. While there are plenty of excellent working scenery modes in modern digital cameras for land use, I had to admitt that nearly all of them are useless under water. Generally the best quality results can be achieved in manual mode. Keeping that in mind I had to understand the relation between aperture, shutter speed and iso-sensitivity while dealing with strobe power in order to get the scene in the exposure I wanted. And If that isn’t enough: Safe and environmental friendly diving behaviour has always essential priority for me. I realized that the best technical equipment and knowledge alone wouldn’t help – the importance of being in the right place at the right time is indespensable in order to capture emotions on the sensor.

And here I am: An ambitious guy with a camera, a formatted memory card and the desire for moments that are worth bearing in mind. In my view that is what counts in lifetime – capturing moments.
